Getting lost in the Jungle, Weddings, Baptisms...

Family and Friends,

This has been a very eventful week. Last Monday (P-day), the entire Zone went to the deep jungle. We were super excited! We all went with Machetes and everything! We ate lunch and entered the Jungle. We entered at about 3:30, and we all had a lot of fun until about 5:00. Our guide told us that he lost the trail, and that he didn´t know were we were. Here we were, in the middle of the Amazon jungle... lost... getting dark... it was a little bit scary (especially the sister missionaries were scared). We said a prayer as a Zone, praying that God would lead and guide us and help us find a way out of the jungle, and we had an Idea. We decided to yell as loud as we could, and listen for a response (the guide´s wife was waiting for us on the road). We yelled... no response. We listened carefully and didn´t hear any response, but we felt that we could hear the cares on the road, so we started walking in that direction (cutting our way through the jungle with Machetes). Every once and a while we would yell again and listen again. After a few times of yelling, somebody in the distance responded. We walked toward the yell, and yelled about every minute for another response. Little by little we got closer to the voice, until finally we escaped from the Jungle. It so happened that the wife flagged down a neighbor and asked him to come and search for us, and he became our savior. By the time we left the jungle it was about 7:00. It was a crazy experience, but we definitely had an adventure.

The other highlight of this week was that the Riva family was married, baptized and confirmed. The Riva family is so amazing!! I love them so much! I know that they are going to go through the Temple in a year. I don´t know how, but I know that I´m going to have to do everything possible to come back to Perú, and be here on this great day. It is so amazing to see the changes that we as missionaries have the opportunity to see in people. The Riva family has progressed so much! I love this great work!
