I have not found so great faith...

The work continues strong here in Puerto Maldonando. Elder Williams and I are very busy, and we almost don´t even have enough time to visit all the wonderful people that we have here to visit.

My new district has all trainers and their trainees. This is super exciting because this means that all of my district will be super exited and ready to get to work. President Harbertson chooses the best missionaries to train. I am excited for my new district :).

Special Spiritual Experience of the Week:
We were teaching Sahi and Gianinna the law of tithing. We had taught the principles, and I asked them: "so, do you think the law of tithing is hard?" immediately, they both said: "no." This response surprised me a little, so I asked them, "why isn´t it hard?" They both thought for a moment and then Sahi said: "because it is a commandment of God." The spirit immediately filled the room, and tears could not be contained. I told them through my tears: "It´s easy for you because you have faith."
It was a great experience.
It reminded me of the scripture in Luke 7:9:
"When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."

I love this work so much! I am thankful for the wonderful people that we are teaching. When we see others with such great faith, it strengthens ours.

The worth of souls is great in the sight of God (D&C 18:10)

This work in which we are involved has absolutely everything to do with souls, and their worth, and saving them. Elder Williams and I have had the great opportunity to work with many great and valuable souls. I would like to tell you about a few of them:

Sahi and Yanina Riva
A Wonderful part member family. Their kids were baptized about a year ago, but at that time they didn`t really have a lot of interest in the church. Then, about three months ago the family was in a major motorcycle wreak. We went to the Hospital and gave them all blessings, and then Yanina and their daughter Yamilet were sent to Cusco, and were there for a while. While they were in Cusco, we constantly visited Sahi to see what they needed. Then, Yamilet and Yanina came back to Puerto. We talked to them and they told us that they believed that God had saved their lives, and that he had done so so that they could change.

This Family is now progressing beautifully. They are both super excited about the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have changed a lot, and they are putting eternal principles into action. They are ready in every way. They only need to be married and baptized (in processes).

Robert and Abigail Vasques
I`ve already told their story (see: "The Gospel Blesses Families" email sent 09/22/2014), but they are also progressing.

Mayer is a 23 year old sincere truth seeker. His aunt is a member of the Church, and he is currently living with her. He doesn`t know a whole lot about religion or God, but he is honestly looking for truth. the spirit is very strong when we teach him. When invited to be baptized he told us: "Surely I will be baptized in the Church of Jesus Christ, but I need time. I need to be prepared." There is nothing wrong with that!

Carlos Silva
I`ve also talked about him before (see: "Training" 09/08/2014). He is a Jew. We`ve taught him all about the restoration of the Gospel, and he believes that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really is the Kingdom of God here on the earth. We shared with him the parable of the Pearl of Great Price (Matt. 13:45-46), and invited him to be baptized, we invited him to sell all that he has (give up all), to obtain the Pearl of Great Price, or to become a member of the true Church of God. He said that he had to think about it. The next appointment, he said: "I`m ready to be baptized when you see it fit, but I still have some questions that need to be answered first." We talked about priesthood, temples, convents, and plural marriage, and everything that we teach is accepted by him. Teaching Carlos strengthens my testimony.

Eder Sahuarico
Eder is a less-active member. In the past he was offended, and went away from the church super bitter. When we first got to his house, he was bitter with us and the church. But we`ve seen miracles in the life of Eder and his family. We`ve taught him few principles: The love of God, the healing power of the atonement, repentance and the sacrament... but Eder is a new person. He is now happy and excited about the Gospel. He is now super excited to come back to the church, and all bitterness has been changed to love. The Atonement is incredible, it changes all!

We feel so blessed to be a part of this great work! Elder Williams and I feel that we are really being made instruments in the hands of the Lord. It is really incredible. God can really work through us to do great things.

I love this church and this Gospel. I love Jesus Christ, and the enabling power of his atonement. "Shall we not go on in so great a cause?" (D&C 128:22).

An uplifting week

Wow, this week was absolutely incredible. We were able to watch, listen, and learn from two different conferences. President Harbertson came to Puerto Maldonado and we had a zone conference. Then, we were able to enjoy General Conference.

I am learning a lot. In this conference there was a huge focus on going back to the basics. Prophets, Apostles, Revelation, Prayer, Asking, Reading, Family Home Evening, Family History, and Service. We often get caught up in all the little doctrines and information of the gospel, and we forget about the basic truths. God is our loving heavenly father, Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, this is their church, and they are at the head of the church and they lead it through their living prophet. "The living lord guides his living church." I know that this is the true church of god.

The spirit has been so strong in my life the last little while. It is almost as if I am living in the scriptures. We have had wonderful experiences and many people are changing and learning and growing. I feel so blessed to be a part of missionary work. There is no better work, and there is no better life. I love being a missionary!

Hard work and Accountability

Well, the internet isn´t working very well which means that this email
might not turn out looking so well on your side. But I just want to
let you all know that I´m doing well here in Puerto Maldonado. I still
havn´t seen conference, but this Saturday and Sunday we are going to
watch it. I´m sure it was great! and I can´t wait to see it.

The work goes well. We have a lot of investigators and we are working
super hard. There will defiantly be a lot of Fruits from our work. I
hope to be here to see some of them. Elder Williams and I are always
busy and running from one place to another.

Lately, I´ve been worried about my district. Some of the Elders aren´t
being too obedient, and that is always a worry. I´m trying to love
them and help them, but it seems like no matter what I do... it
doesn´t really help... but anyways, I´m doing ok.

I´ve been learning about the atonement. I think that many times, as
members of the True Church of Jesus Christ, We take advantage of the
most essential and basic parts of our beliefs. The Prophet Joseph
Smith taught:

"The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the
Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was
buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and
all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to

Many times we forget that. I invite you all to study and restudy the
Atonement of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. This is is Church!
and his Atonement is the center of all that we do.
