Great training from President Harbertson

Family and Friends,

I´ve had a great week!! This week we had a wonderful training with President and Sister Harbertson. the training was different, because we didn´t do it in a chapel. President assigned the Zone leaders to choose an outdoor place, and plan the training. We walked along the shores of Lake Titicaca and each of the leaders (district and zone) talked. I talked about captivity and liberty, and how we can really be free. After each of us talked, President and Sister Harbertson talked to us, and then we had a testimony meeting. It was a beautiful experience. I loved Sister Harbertson´s talk. She told us that walking along the shore of Lake Titicaca reminded her of when President Harbertson and her went to the sea of Galilee. She said that they walked along the shore of Galilee for hours, and talked about the great biblical events that happened there. She bore her powerful sweat testimony of the life of Christ, and then talked about the Priesthood.

President Harbertson talked to us about having a good attitude. He shared with us the fact that Nephi and Laman and Lemual passed through the same experience, but had a complete different attitude. He told us that the mission isn´t easy, but that if we have a good attitude it will be enjoyable. It reminded me of the quote that Dad always says: "you decide your own weather." It is so true!

Spiritual thought of the day:

In the Old Testament Jehovah (Christ) said:  "be holy, for I am holy." (Leviticus 11:45 See also Lev. 20:7-8, 20:26)
In the New Testament he said: "Be... ye perfect." (Matt. 5:48 see also 3 Nephi 12:48)
In the book of Mormon, Moroni said: "that we may be purified even as he is pure." (Moroni 7:48)
In The Doctrine and Covenants it says:"[we] must... be sanctified from all unrighteousness, [to] be prepared for... celestial glory." (D&C 88:18)

¿How? It sounds kinda hard to me. I like a quote from president Lorenzo Snow:

"Do not expect to become perfect at once. If you do, you will be disappointed. Be better today than you were yesterday, and be better tomorrow than you are today."

It IS possible to become perfect, but it takes a lifetime of faithful service and hard work... actually, it takes an eternity.

I love you All!! I know that we are in the work of the Lord. I know that this is his church, and that he is at the helm.

There is Joy in the Journey

This week has been amazing!!! Elder Tandazo and I are working hard, and we are now teaching 2 great families that can really progress. Please keep in your prayers:
  • The Chambilla Family
  • The Mamani Family
I am so happy, and the work is really progressing so well here. There is joy in the journey, and more important, there is joy in the Goespel.

Scripture of the day:
Alma 24:19

And thus we see that, when these Lamanites were brought to believe and to know the truth, they were firm, and would suffer even unto death rather than commit sin; and thus we see that they buried their weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war, for peace.

When we are really converted, we would rather die than commit sin. We are willing to give ALL to God. Are we really converted? What do we need to change to become really converted?

"Be not afraid of [him]: for the Lord thy God is with thee" (Deut. 20:1)

Family and Friends,

Elder Tandazo and I are working harder than I`ve ever worked in the Mission. Our plan and goal is to strengthen the Ward, starting with the Leaders and active Families. We will gain their trust, and through them we will get references and see a lot of success here in Huaynacapac, Puno. I KNOW that there will be a lot of success here. I may not be here to see a lot of it, but If I can make a difference it will all be worth it.

But with this great conviction to do good and make the kingdom of God grow, Satan has tried to discourage us. Always, and I repeat, always, Satan tries to detain the work before it happens. For example, Before Christ and God appeared to Joseph Smith, Satan tried to destroy him (see JS-H 1:15-17). Before Moses saw the vision of worlds without number, Satan appeared to him and tried to destroy him (see Moses 1)... Well, The same has happened with us. Satan knows that Elder Tandazo and I have a great potential, and he has put all kinds of obstacles in our way. But we`re better than him! We`re stronger than him, and anyways, the Lord is on our side (Deut. 20:1)!!

I am so excited for missionary work. I know that this is the work of god, and that he is at the helm.

I love you all!!
