Good-Hard Week

Family and Friends,

This week has been hard. I got pretty sick. My stomach was hurting super bad. I think that I had a stomach infection... fun! I´m feeling a lot better now though. Almost back to normal! Also, my companion is getting really discouraged because the Ward isn´t helping us very much. Hermana Beckstead and Hermana Hunter had an investigator with a baptismal date, but he couldn´t come to church on Sunday, and his date fell through. They are going to talk to him this week and set another date and review the Sabbath day.

Good news of the week: We´ve been teaching a young man named Carlos. He is 15 years old, and has come to church now 5 times!! He is really starting to understand the gospel, and has a desire to be baptized. Our only concern has been his parents. They are both Catholic, and he told us that they probably wouldn´t like the idea of him getting baptized. But yesterday, we talked with his Mom. We explained to her the importance of the baptismal covenant, and the desire that Carlos has to make this covenant with God. She took it very well! She told us that she would like to make sure that Carlos is ready and prepared before he makes the commitment. She also accepted the invitation to listen to the lessons, and learn more about the church. We are so excited!

I love the Gospel SOOO much!! I love the oportunity that I have to share it with the people here in Perú!

Family History, Faith, and more.

Family and Friends,

I´m well and Happy.

Yesterday, I had my first Baptisimal Interview. It was an amazing experience!! I was able to feel the spirit very strong, and I knew that he was ready and willing to make sacred covenants with God. It was a great experience! I am so happy that God has given me the opportunity to have experiences like this. I am happy to be a district leader, and I thank God for his trust and love in me.

My companion and I are working hard, and we are striving to trust more in god. President Harbertson came to Puno this week, and he taught us about faith. I have learned so much, and I know that I still have a lot to learn. President taught us that we should not only hope for miracles, but we should expect miracles. That is real faith!

There is a new focus on Family History in our mission. We now can be in internet for 2 hours on Mondays. 45 minutes to write the family, 15 minutes to write President, and 1 hour to be on familysearch.org. President Harbertson wants us to know how to use the familysearch site so that we can then teach others.

Family and Friends,

It was great to video chat with the family. Know that I love each of you, and that I´m doing well. For those that didn´t get to talk to me, President Harbertson has given me the assignment of being a District Leader. In My district are My Companion and I and two companionship's of Sister Missionaries. It will be a lot of responsibility to be a district leader, but I will do my best.

At this link, you can see a cool video that I recorded. It is a random guy in the street painting with spray paints. He had a lot of talent, and it was super cool.

No unclean thing can dwell with God

Family and Friends,

Those who havn´t seen the CES Devotional, please see it. It is amazing!!

Many things have been happening. Both good and Bad, Happy and Sad. My companion and I are doing well, and we are happy. We are working hard, and starting to see great success here Huayna Capac.

A few changes are happening here though. Hauyna Capac 2 was closed, and reopened. 2 Elders left, and we will now get 2 Sisters in the Ward. It will be a change. I´ve never worked in a ward with Sisters yet. Also, I got an email from the office today telling me to call President Harbertson. I am not entirely sure why, but the email says that he would like to personally inform me of an assignment that he has for me. I´ll let you all know.

I love the work of the Lord, and I strive every day to be better. I am FAR from perfect, but I´m trying. I have learned that this is what matters to God.

This means that This life is the time to BECOME CLEAN so that we CAN DWELL WITH GOD!

This process does not happen over night, even when we´re baptized, and made clean, there is still an entire life before us to become clean. That is the entire purpose of "endure to the end." It is something that comes day by day, week by week, month by month, and year by year. It is also something that only comes "through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah" (in other words, through his atonement). See 2 Nephi 2:8

I hope with all my heart and soul, that I might be clean and worthy to stand before God and feel good in his Presence. Psalms 68:2-3 contrasts the difference in how we will feel in the presence of God if we are clean, or unclean. I want to be glad and exceedingly rejoice before God. That is the purpose of my life.

I love you all! I hope that you´re all well and happy.
