The blessings of the Gospel.

These last few weeks have been amazing!

I had the amazing opportunity to go to the temple. I had the most incredible experience, and know that the temple is the house of God. I am so thankful for the amazing spirit that I have been able to feel there.

I know that God lives, and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth in these latter days. I know that Christ performed the atonement so that we, God's children, could return to live in his presence. I know that without the gospel, and without Christ and his infinite atonement I would be lost in my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book and that by abiding by its precepts I will come closer to God. I am so thankful that this gospel is a gospel of progression and learning. I am thankful for all of the wonderful things that I learn every day. I know that God calls his missionaries to serve where they will best be an instrument in his hands. He knows each of us, and he knows what is best for us. I know that I am supposed to go to Peru and that there are people there that need me, and that I need the people I meet. I know that over the next two years I will be blessed because of my service to the lord, and I hope that I can be a great instrument in his hands.

Mission Ready Jacob... Well Almost :)

Mount Timp Temple.

This isn't the temple I went through, but I came here the next day and did baptisms with my friends.

Dear Elder Harmon, You are hereby called to serve...

I don't even know where to start. There are so many things that are running through my head right now.

Well I guess I will just tell the story real quick. I received my Mission call on Thursday (it was sent to Wyoming), but Mom and Dad couldn't come until Friday. It was really hard waiting until then to open it. They ended up arriving in Provo at about 12:00. We went to lunch and hung out until about 5:30 (I went to Sub-Zero with Anne, and it was really nice to have time to talk with her).

I then got to open my mission call!! A lot of friends from college, and of course all of our family were there (Josh, Jason, and Kristi Video Chatting). Tyson and Britney ended up showing up, and I was so excited!!!

We sang a Few songs and I slowly broke the seal during the songs (I was super excited). I then proceed to open the call. I made sure to cover the entire letter with the envelope so that my eyes wouldn't jump to where I was going. I slowly read the call...

“Dear Elder Harmon, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Cusco, Peru Mission.”

Everyone started cheering. I still didn't know what to think, so I kept reading the letter. As I read the promises promised by the First Presidency I started to Cry. The only time that I have ever felt the spirit so strongly was when I received my Patriarchal Blessing.

A few more details: I leave March 13th and Report to the PERU MTC in Lima! of course I will be speaking Spanish :).

I KNOW that Peru is where I am supposed to go. I am so excited to serve the Lord and be a tool in his hands. I have never been so sure about anything in my life. I KNOW that the lord made this mission call and that he knows me personally and knows my needs. Ever since I received my call I have been studying everyth

ing I can about Peru. I can't wait to see the people that I will learn to love.

Come Listen to a Prophets Voice

Wow, Today was a crazy and historical day!!

The ages that Missionaries can serve was changed to Boys: 18 and Girls: 19. At first I didn't really know what I should do. I was just shocked. Anne was with us and she started to cry, so she decided to go home and talk to her Mom. During the entire first session I thought about the possibility of serving a mission as soon as possible. I felt a deep burning in my heart that I needed to get out into the field as soon as possible. I felt an incredible desire to serve the Lord. Anne also felt this desire. She is planning on going on a Mission as soon as the school year is over.

I am going to talk to Bishop tomorrow and start my papers. I am super excited!!

I posted this picture to Facebook today, with the post: "I'm so excited right now!!!! Mission, here I come!"
